On the lapwing walk - stunning views of Bowland |
Cobble Hey Farm & Gardens is a working hill farm not far from the A6 south of Garstang, offering visitors a range of attractions including a farmhouse cafe offering food home-made from locally sourced ingredients (Dewlay cheese, Goosnargh chicken and turkey, Robinson's ice-creams), delightful gardens surrounded by mature trees, a selection of rare breed livestock, a children's playground, and a conservation walk allowing access to land managed to support Lapwings, which are becoming increasingly rare. The hillside setting also offers fantastic panoramic views of Bowland and across to the Lancashire coast. There is good access for disabled visitors and nice clean toilet facilities.
Here are a few snaps I took on our visit today:
In the Cafe: L-R Holly, Megan, Rosie |
Relaxing in the gardens: L-R Rosie, Meg, Holly, Maggie |
Ornamental bridge |
Croquet: L-R Chris, Robert, Holly |
Rare-breed piglets chasing a feed |
Big lamb/ewe |
Lapwing aloft |
An added bonus today was a charity pig race being held on the farm which I made a quick film of. Note how the pig which almost took me out then stopped to pose for a picture and nibble some grass while the other leader crossed the finish line!

Looks a great place to visit and fun for all the family
